The 7 Days Rwanda Itinerary takes you through the Land of Thousand Hills rich in culture and natural beauty including the iconic safari destinations starting from the Volcanoes National Park to the Lush Forests of Nyungwe National Park and the serene shores of Lake Kivu. Embark on a thrilling 7-day Rwanda safari that brings you close to the Majestic Mountain gorillas of Volcanoes National Park and canopy walks in Nyungwe Forest National Park as well as the Kigali city Tour.
Arrive at Kigali International Airport and you will be welcomed by your safari guide for the next 7 Days of Rwanda safari who will take you through a briefing about the tour. Later you shall drive to your accommodation and check in for your stay. You shall have lunch at the lodge and prepare for the afternoon city tour. After lunch, you shall visit the Rwanda Genocide Memorial Center which is remembered for the tragic death of thousands of locals during the Rwanda genocide where Hutu and Tusi massacred themselves in the year 1994. Later, you shall drive to the next stop in Kimironko Market, the largest that is popular for fresh fish, and traditional foods and crafts such as traditional kitenge, T-shirts, and other local crafts that are pocket-friendly. In the evening, transfer back to the Lodge for your dinner and overnight stay in the Land of Thousand Hills.
Have an early morning breakfast at the Lodge and embark on a thrilling drive northward of Kigali for about 2 hours to Volcanoes National Park, home of the famous endangered mountain Gorillas. Volcanoes National Park is Rwanda’s most visited safari destination for its famous endangered Mountain Gorillas that can on be seen here, in Uganda and Congo as well as Golden monkeys. Mountain Gorilla trekking is the most done activity in Volcanoes National Park where tourists get face to face with the mountain gorillas. The park is also a great deal for golden monkey trekking after gorilla trekking. Expect to capture beautiful memories of your 7 Days Rwanda safari. Arrive at your hotel and check into your accommodation. Enjoy lunch at your lunch and prepare for the evening Ibyi’wacu Cultural Village experience provides insight into local customs and the country’s rich culture. In the evening, you shall have a pre-briefing about gorilla trekking and what to pack for the next Days experience.
Wake up early morning with a mouthwatering breakfast and later head to Kinigi Visitor’s Information Centre. Upon arrival, you shall register for gorilla trekking and be briefed about the rules and Guidelines when observing the mountain Gorillas. After the briefing, you shall be divided into groups of 8 people who are only allowed to visit a particular gorilla Family and be awarded park rangers for your safety. Trek into the forests in search of the mountain gorillas in their natural sanctuary upon meeting the gorillas, you shall be granted 1 full hour of experience in a 10-meter distance as you learn about their lifestyle and Behaviors. Head back to the starting point where you shall be awarded gorilla trekking certificates and proceed for your lunch.
In the afternoon, embark on a thrilling golden monkey trekking experience in Volcanoes National Park for about 3 to 4 Hours. The trek is shorter than the gorilla trekking experience though it will give you a chance to encounter a variety of animal species. In the evening, descend back to the lodge for a peaceful evening, and enjoy your dinner as a great way to conclude your day and overnight stay.
Enjoy a restful breakfast at the Lodge and prepare to Hike up to Dian Fossey’s tomb located in the park. Dian Fossey was a primatologist who devoted her life to studying and protecting the endangered Mountain gorillas. The Hike takes about 2 to 3 hours including the study of conservation of Mountain gorillas. Later, you shall transfer to Karisoke Research Center and learn more about the conservation efforts of mountain gorillas in Rwanda. In the afternoon, have your Lunch at the lodge and enjoy an afternoon relaxation at the Lodge.
Have a mouthwatering breakfast at the lodge, check out, and embark on a 4 to 5-hour journey to Nyungwe National Park in the southern part of Rwanda. Nyungwe Forest National Park is located in the northern part of the country and is home to about 13 primate species and also doubles as a home to the largest percentage of monkeys in the whole world having approximately 25% of Africa’s primates such as golden monkeys, chimpanzees, black, white colobus monkeys and other primate species. In the afternoon, arrive and check in at your Lodge for the next day’s experience. Enjoy a delicious dinner and overnight stay at the Lodge.
After your breakfast, you shall embark on a chimpanzee trekking experience through the forests of Nyungwe Forest National Park where you will have a chance to spot a variety of wildlife species including birds such as cinnamons, egrets, hamerkop, jacanas, lilac-breasted roller, mousebirds, hadada ibis, village weaver, old world orioles, painted snipe, pittas and cuckoo shrike that bird enthusiasts find themselves engaged in watching. Upon meeting the chimpanzees, you shall be granted 1 hour of experience with face-to-face encounters with the chimpanzees at a 10-meter distance as you learn about their lifestyle and behaviors.
After lunch, you shall embark on a canopy walk that stands 40 meters above the treetops of Nyungwe. The activity seems fearful but interesting with great views over the forest canopy. This experience takes about 2 to 3 hours and later transfer back to the Lodge for your overnight stay as you prepare to conclude your safari in Rwanda.
Early in the morning, have breakfast and check out of the lodge. Embark on a 65 to 6-hour journey to Kigali International Airport to catch your flight to your next destination which marks the end of your 7 Days Rwanda Itinerary.
