Overview
This safari creates the best memorable experience for visitors who are ready and interested to trek the mountain gorillas twice on two different days. Visitors trek two different gorilla families and this helps to identify the different behaviors in these groups and on top of that, visitors engage in other add on activities and these are visiting the local community of Ibyiwachu where you will be able to learn about Rwanda culture and visiting the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo.
Detailed safari itinerary
Start the safari from the hotel or airport with the driver guide that will first give you a briefing about this tour. Pass through Kigali city and witness the different beautiful hills hence being called the land of a thousand hills-Rwanda. You have a chance to visit some attractions like the genocide memorial site, the local markets, the former presidential Palace among others, and the journey to Volcanoes national park takes about 2-3 hours.
Volcanoes national park is known to inhabit the mountain gorillas and the golden monkeys, it covers an area of 160 square kilometers and has 5 of 8 volcanoes namely; Karisimbi, Sabyinyo, Bisoke, Gahinga and Muhabura. Arrive and relax at the lodge for the great evening experience
After breakfast, go for a briefing at the park offices in Kinigi which will help you to get familiar with the forest and its inhabitants. You will be assigned with only one gorilla family out of 10 gorilla families to trek 9n this day depending on which you booked.
This experience of trekking the gorilla is challenging but worthwhile whereby you encounter the primates in their natural environment for only one hour and then transfer back to the Lodge. Encounter another experience of visiting the twin lake of Ruhondo and Burera where you will be able to take a boat cruise after lunch.
Wake up and have your breakfast and then head back to the office for the same program you attended the previous day. This time you will trek another gorilla family but you are advised to hire the porter to help you carry the luggage and these porters are normally students or reformed poachers.
After this experience, head to the lodge for lunch followed by visiting the unique Rwandese culture that will entertain you through the traditional dances and music, story tales, and made crafts among others.
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast as you prepare to depart back home. The driver-guide will take you to Kigali on a lazy drive and this will take about 3 hours and be dropped at the airport which will mark the end of this 4 days gorilla tour in Rwanda.
