Overview
This safari takes you to Uganda to trek the mountain gorillas and then Tanzania to spot the African wildlife while in Tanzania in Serengeti and Tarangire National Parks. On top that, you will encounter the Batwa culture in Bwindi national Park who will entertain you with cultural music and dances, take a tour in Igongo Cultural Centre where you will tour the Ankole-Kigezi museum, take a view of the Uganda Equator in Kayabwe all in Uganda and a tour around the Olduvai gorge where the first human skull was discovered in early 60s.
Detailed itinerary
Meet the driver guide who will take you through briefing and this will be covering different sections like the tour destinations, weather and the requirements which maybe wanted while on this safari. You will head to the hotel where you will spend a night and this will be the end of the tour.
Have an early morning breakfast and begin a long day journey that takes about 8 to 9 hours' drive. The road trip to Bwindi impenetrable forest National Park is reading with beautiful views, several stopovers but the main ones are at the Equator point just 75 km from Kampala in Kayabwe. At this point you will notice the point where the Equator crosses Uganda, take photos while you stand in North and south poles. Proceed and have another stopover in Mbarara for lunch. Find your way to the park as you pass through the terraced landscape of Kigezi Highlands.
Head to the park offices where you will meet the park guide and other fellow trekkers for briefing. You will get to know about the behaviour of the gorillas and any other required information before trekking begins. For those that require potters, you will book one to carry your backpack. You will enter the jungle to begin the search where you will be able to meet one gorilla family that booked in a group of 8 trekkers.
Spend an hour in their presence where you will be taking photos, recording videos at a distance of 8meters. You will then trek back and head for lunch at the lodge. Immediately head to visit theBatwa community next to the park, where you will explore the cultural music and dances, making fire among others.
You will transfer to Kampala on this day after your breakfast having a stopover in Mbarara to tour the Ankole-Kigezi museum at Igongo Cultural Centre. You will then continue and have another stopover at the Uganda equator for lunch, you will have the last stopover at the airport in Entebbe and here fly to Tanzania. The tout driver will be waiting to take you to the booked hotel.
Take breakfast in the morning and then join your driver guide who will take you to the Serengeti national park well known to have the largest herds of Elephants in Tanzania. You will then by pass the Olduvai Gorge a place where the first skull was discovered. It’s a great historical places with a great museum.
Dr. Louis Leaky is known to have discovered the fossils on the human skull in 1960 and until now, he is still remembered. You will proceed to Serengeti National Park that is famous for having the largest herds of elephants. You will arrive and straight away head to the booked lodge.
On this day, you will take several game drives where you will discover the beautiful prides of lions, herds of elephants, buffalos, grants gazelle, wildebeest, zebras and different birds like the rare ostriches. You will enjoy the sun rise moments in the morning and the sunset moments in the evening. Lunch break will be at the hotel with a short leisure and they embark on the evening game drive where more than what is mentioned above is discovered.
Take a 2 hours’ drive from Serengeti to Tarangire national park after your breakfast where you will be able to enjoy the different wildlife. It gains its name from River Tarangire that is crosses the park. It covers an area of 2600 Square kilometers making it to be the 6th largest national park in Tanzania. The park is popular for hosting the large herds of elephants and wildlife migrations during the dry season drown by River Tarangire that never dries in the dry season.
You will be served with lunch and then head for game drive in the evening where animals like elephants, Cape buffalos, dik dik, gazelles, olive baboons, giraffes, vervet monkeys, zebras among others and the savannahs are dotted with baobab trees. Check in a lodge for dinner and this will be the end of the tour.
Have breakfast depending on the time for your scheduled flight and after transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport. The driver guide will drop you at this point which will mark the end of your tour.
