Meet your Tanzania safari guide at Kilimanjaro/Arusha airport, get briefed about your long 12 days Kilimanjaro hike & Bwindi gorilla trekking safari. After, drive to your respective hotels you previously booked for leisurely dinner and overnight stay in Arusha.
Have breakfast early morning and after, drive from Arusha to Machame gate of Kilimanjaro National Park to start your expedition on Mt. Kilimanjaro. The 5895m snow-capped Kilimanjaro lies within Kilimanjaro National Park, Tanzania. Shira, Mawenzi and Kibo are 3 (three) cones that make up this dormant and free standing volcano.
Meet the climbing crew, other climbers and porters; get registered with authorities. After, set off for your first day hike from Machame gate making sure that you have some pack of lunch and plenty of bottled water. Navigate through the lush forest for 4 to 5 hours and settle at Machame camp (3000m).
After breakfast, leave Machame camp for Shira camp (3800m) navigating via a beautiful forest. This will cover 4 to 5 hours and en-route, enjoy a picnic lunch and have relaxation at Shira camp.
Enjoy a heavy breakfast at the camp, followed by a thrilling hike through the Lava tower, semi glaciers for 3 to 4 hours. Once at Barranco camp (3950m, settle for an afternoon relaxation as you explore the surrounding area.
Get up early to enjoy delicious cup of coffee or tea, after set off from Barranco to Barafu camp also a bit breathtaking hike. Hike via Barranco wall, get to Karanga valley to settle for a picnic lunch and later get to Barafu camp ((4500m).
Have breakfast and today, expect to have the best of your Kilimanjaro hike as you conquer its highest peak. Your hike will cover 5 to 6 hours and you will be at Stella Point, enjoy the ultimate view of the surrounding then proceed 2 hours up to Uhuru peak. Enjoy lunch and return to Barafu for relaxation then later, begin descending to Mweka camp.
Enjoy a hefty breakfast, after descend up to Mweka gate. Meet your driver guide for transfer to a comfortable hotel in Arusha/Moshi town in Tanzania.
After breakfast, connect to Kilimanjaro airport in Tanzania for your flight to Kigali airport in Rwanda. Meet driver guide for pick up and drive to a hotel in Kigali capital and if you take a flight to Entebbe airport (EBB), drive to a hotel in Kampala.
A cup of tea/coffee early morning, after leave the hotel for Kigali excursion- visit Kigali genocide site, souvenir shops plus other local/craft markets. After, have lunch and set off for 3-4 hours’ drive to Bwindi in Southwestern Uganda connecting via Chanika/Katuna border. In case of those setting off from Kampala, drive for 8-9 hours via Mbarara expecting an en-route stopover at Equator crossing and lunch at Igongo Cultural Center.
Enjoy a hefty breakfast, after go meet the park official at any of the 4 regions in Bwindi for briefing about gorilla trekking rules. Leave the lodge with packed lunch and enough drinking water, right gear- boots, cameras etc. You will be allocated a gorilla family to track in a group of 8 visitors starting at 8:00am, taking up to 2-6 hours that is inclusive of one hour to observe mountain gorillas, learning about their daily behaviors, photography etc. In the evening after enough relaxation and in case you still have energy, pay a visit to Batwa community for cultural experience.
Have breakfast in the morning, after, leave Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for Kigali or Kampala. Check into your hotel to have adequate relaxation and refreshments as you wait for your flight back home the next day.
Wake up early, enjoy breakfast and later check out of your accommodation then connect to Kigali airport in Rwanda or Entebbe airport in Uganda. Fly back home and today marks the end of your 12 days Kilimanjaro hike & Bwindi gorilla trekking safari.
