Overview.
Head to the home of mountain gorillas in Rwanda where you will take a gorilla trekking experience. This tour will grant you an opportunity to spend an hour while in the presence of gorillas in volcanoes national park. This park is located in the Virunga Mountains and has various wildlife in form of mammal species, amphibians, reptiles and bird species among others. During this trial, you will take a community tour where you take part in cultural activities like traditional dances, music and drama.
Safari itinerary
You will be picked from the agreed point in Kigali Rwanda and transferred to Volcanoes national park that is well known as a home to gorillas and golden monkeys. It's well known to have the graveyard of Dian Fossey who saved several gorillas from poachers as they were hunted for bush meat.
Dian Fossey was a female researcher primatologist who established the Karisoke Research Center between the two mountains - Karisimbi and Bisoke. The road trip to the park rewards you with great scenery of the landscape covered by hills and due to hills, Rwanda is termed as the land of a thousand hills.
Take a great adventure on this day after breakfast where you will engage in a briefing that will involve checking gorilla permits, dos, and don'ts, information about the history of the forest among others. Gorilla trekking will immediately begin with a help of the park ranger guide who will take you into the forest to search for these rare primate species.
On arriving at the point where they are located, you will be allowed to take a maximum of an hour while in their presence as you take photos. This will be a rewarding experience where you will have a face to face eye contact with the gorillas. After the trek, you will head to visit the Ibyiwachu cultural village where you will take part in different activities like storytelling, music, and dances among others.
Have leisure breakfast and engage in a drive that will take you to Kigali city. In case time allows, you may take a visit to a few sites including the former presidential Palace, Richard Kandt museum, Belgian monument and the Rwanda genocide memorial center.
