Overview
This 8 days Uganda primates and wildlife safari takes you to the best national parks known for their primates and wildlife and these are Bwindi national parkfor gorillas, Kibale national park for chimpanzees, Lake Mburo and Queen Elizabeth national parksfor wildlife viewing.
During this safari, you have add on like visiting Isunga cultural community and here you will experience two culture of Bakiga and Batooro, get entertainment through the traditional dances and music, visit the crater lakes with a help of the local guide.
Detailed itinerary
Arrive or be picked from the agreed point and be transferred to the land of impalas and zebras that is Lake Mburo national park that is located in Kiruhura district. The park is amazing and dotted with different lakes hence getting the name from one of the lakes called Lake Mburo.
The journey to this park rewards you with different attractions majorly the point where the equator crosses Uganda. This will be a great moments as you take photos and buy some crafts to take back home. As you approach the lodge, you will witness the impalas together with Ankole long horned cows grazing together in the park premises.
Take a game drive in the savannahs of this smallest savannah national park in the country where you will be entitled to view different animals like the zebras, warthogs, impalas, hyenas, jackals, eland, bush buck, buffalos among others. The game drive will be done with a help of the park ranger guide who is knowledgeable about the park premises.
In the afternoon, you will take another great adventure of a boat cruise on Lake Mburo todiscover more of water animals like hippos and crocodiles. This will be a
great day after discovering the beauty of this park through the main activities done in this conservation area.
On this day, you will join the guide driver and transfer to the home of half of the remaining mountain gorillas in the world. The park is located in the Virunga mountains the only area where you can find the rare mountain gorillas. This park is not only good for gorillas but also the best for bird watching.
The road trip to Bwindi impenetrable national park is also rewarding with beautiful landscape which is terraced making a great travelling experience.
Have briefing with fellow trekkers at the park headquarters wheremost of the required information will be told to you including the essential guideline to follow while in the forest. Trekking takes about 3 to 4 hours depending on where the gorillas are located and this means that, the nearer the gorilla family, the shorter time and distance covered and vice versa.
An hour will be granted to you while in their presence and after, you will trek back to the lodge and relax for the rest of the day.
Head to the home of tree climbing lions that is Queen Elizabeth national park which has a high concentration of wild animals such as elephants, lions, giraffes, buffalos, Uganda kobs, bushbucks, warthogs, crocodiles, hippos among others. The park is also concentrated with different crater lakes that attract different bird species like flamingos, egrets, fish eagles, vultures,Ibis among others.
Arrive and transfer to the lodge with a game drive though Ishasha sector where you will view the rare tree climbing lions. You will again take an evening game drive where you will be able to spot different animals.
Take an early morning game drive where you will be able to spot different animals like the lion, leopards, spotted hyenas, elephants, oribis, Uganda kobs, giraffes, buffalos among others. The savannah plains of this park offers a great view where you will be able take memorable photos. After the game drive, you will find your way to Kibale national park the home of 13 primates including chimpanzees our great cousins.
This park has unique bird species like the great blue turacos, the green breasted pitta, the grey parrots among others.Arrive and take a short tour around the crater lakes with a local guide from Isunga cultural community tours.
Head to Kanyanchu tourist information center where you will receive briefing about chimpanzee tracking and you will join other trekker together with the assigned park ranger guide into the forest where the chimps live. You will meet a troop of chimpanzees that normally comprise of 15 to 60 members, spend a sum of an hour in their presence while enjoying their behaviours and movements.
Transfer back to the offices in Kanyanchu Visitors center and be rewarded with a certificate. Head to the lodge for lunch and thereafter, embark on a short community tour of Isunga which is located at the edge of Kibale forestwhere you will take part in discovering the 2 cultures that live in this community which are the Bakiga and Batooro. You will also be entertained through the cultural dances like Ekizino for Bakiga and Runyege for Batooro.
Depart Kibale national park to Kampala after your breakfastas you pass through the tea plantations, forests, and beautiful landscapes among others. You will have stopovers to take photos during this safari and be dropped at the airport after your hot lunch which will be the end of your 8 days tour.
