Overview
In this 6 days gorilla trekking safari in Uganda, you will visit 2 national parks where you can get a chance to trek the remaining mountain gorillas in the pearl of Africa-Uganda. These are; Bwindi National Park and Mgahinga gorilla national park which are both located in the Albertine rift where one can spot and meetsome of thefew surviving mountain gorillas in their whole world. You will have a chance to see the Uganda equator while traveling to and from these destinations and en route stopovers will be provided to create lasting memories on this safari.
Detailed safari itinerary
Our tour representative will pick you up from Entebbe International Airport and he will take you through the requirements that you might want to use while on this safari-like hiking boots, SIM card, travel documents in case you don't have a visa, yellow fever vaccine among others.
An option of visiting either Uganda reptile village or Uganda wildlife Education Centre will be offered to you at an extra cost. The driver guide will take you to the booked hotel in Kampala with an optional nightlife after dinner.
Head to the home of the rare mountain gorillas that is Bwindi National Park after taking breakfast at the hotel. You will have a chance to see the Uganda equator in Kayabwe and this stopover will be great as you can grab a snack, buy a souvenir and also take an experiment at this point. You again proceed with this interesting journey as you pass through the plains of Lake Mburo national park while spotting the zebras, long-horned cattle and another stopover will be in Mbarara city for lunch.
Continue to the park through the verdant plantations, terraced hills of Kigezi and be welcomed at the lodge where you will be staying after a long day drive.
Have a great day where you will be able to join another visitor at the park offices after a delicious breakfast for briefing. You will then be headed over to the assigned park ranger guide who will be fully armed to offer protection in case of an attack, you will start the search while sporting other eye-catching attractions like the vegetation, mammals and birds among others.
Upon spotting the great primates-mountain gorillas, you have another hour to be in their presence and this will create a memorable experience while seeing the silverback who is the head of the group practicing its leadership skills, female gorillas as they breastfeed younger ones, and so much more. Trekking can even take up to 5 hours and this depends on the group booked and the location of the group booked. You will have leisure after this long hour of trekking
Day 4:Drive from Bwindi forest to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in Kisoro district.
Have a leisurely breakfast and transfer further southwards, to Mgahinga national park where you will be able to have another great adventure of gorilla trekking. This is the only national park that is very small in the country but offers lasting memories of gorillas and golden monkey trekking.
Mgahinga gorilla national park is home toonly one habituated group - Nyakagezi. You will arrive at the lodge and be served lunch while relaxing or taking an optional nature walk around the park.
Have another briefing on this day at the park offices of Mgahinga national park where you will be instructed about the dos and don'ts while in the forest, receive the required information about the forest and its inhabitants among others. You will then enter the forest to be able to get closer to these beautiful primates-mountain gorillas and have just an hour while in their presence as you take photos, selfies and record videos.
You are then warned against eating in presence of these primates, not making noise, and again, no use of flashlights. Head back to the park offices and be rewarded with a certificate and thereafter find your way back to the lodge.
Head back to Kampala after breakfast and make alast stopover at the Uganda equator where you will enjoy the photos and lunch. Proceed to be dropped at either hotel or Entebbe airport and this will be the end of 6 days gorilla trekking safari in Uganda.
