A 2-day Mountain Gorilla Habituation Safari offers an unparalleled and deeply immersive experience with the endangered mountain gorillas, which are primarily found in Uganda, which holds half of the mountain gorilla population in the world, found in two tourist destinations. These destinations are Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Maghinga National Park. Unlike mountain gorilla trekking, mountain gorilla habituation gives you the chance to spend more time with our dearest close cousins, the mountain gorillas. During this time in their presence, you will get to learn more about them in all aspects from the tour guides and rangers. You will get to learn about their behaviors, food, watch them play, swing, to mention a few.
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Habituation and Departure
On arrival at the Kigali International Airport, you will be picked up and transferred to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The transfer from Kigali International Airport to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park takes approximately 4-5 hours. Worry not about the distance because along the way you will be occupied with the beautiful attractions like plantations, cattle, people, landscapes with beautiful scenery, to mention but a few. On arrival at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, you will check in at the lodge, freshen up, have dinner, and rest up in preparation for the big day.
On day two, you will wake up for an amazing breakfast, which will be prepared at the lodge. After having breakfast, you will be transferred to the park headquarters for a briefing, where you will be given the guidelines. After the briefing, you will be divided into groups of not more than 8 people with head guides and game rangers, plus allocation to the gorilla family route. From there, you will head straight for mountain gorilla trekking or searching. On finding the mountain gorilla family, you will get to spend the allocated time for habituation with these amazing, gentle creatures. The time for the mountain gorilla habituation in Uganda is approximately 4 hours. You will have your packed lunch either before gorilla habituation or after, depending on how long it will take you to locate a gorilla family. After mountain gorilla habituation, you will head back to the park headquarters where you will be awarded with certificates bearing your names, because why not, since you have taken on this great adventure successfully. From there, you picked up and transferred to the lodge for freshening up, and depending on your flight schedule, you will be transferred back to Kigali or Entebbe International Airport for departure or transferred to a hotel, depending on what you want.
