Overview
During this tour in Bwindi National Park, you will engage in trekking gorillas for two days – while visitingat least two different gorilla families. It will expose you to the direct interaction with mountain gorillas while spotting other attractions like the birds, Vegetation, and other big mammals like the forest elephants.
A rewarding stopover en route will also give you a great view of the Uganda equator, beautiful terraced landscapes among others. Other stopovers will be takenalong the way and in Mbarara at Igongo Cultural Centre for sumptuous lunch.
Detailed itinerary
Arrive and be welcomed by the driver guide at the airport who will take you around Entebbe to acquire some necessary items that you might want to use while on the safari like the snacks, rain jackets and camera batteries among others. The guide will take you straight to Bwindi national park, located in southwestern Uganda and known to host 50% of total population of the rare mountain gorillas.
This park has 19 habituated gorilla families including the ones you have booked. There’s an option of visiting Igongo Cultural center in Mbarara where you get to know about the Ankole-Kigezi cultures. On the arrival, check in at the lodge as you prepare for the next day's adventure.
Have your briefing at the park offices after breakfast and engage in your first gorilla trekking experience. This briefing is so important where you will discover and get to know the whole information about the gorillas and Bwindi as a national park at large. You will then, go through the rules and regulations while on a trek like no feeding animals, no making noise, no littering the park, no use of flash camera lights among others.
Penetrate the interior of the forest where you will be able to meet these primates and be granted a maximum of an hour while in their presence. After the trek back to the office of the park where you will meet your driver-guide to take you back to the lodge.
Head back to the park offices together with the driver guide to engaging in the briefing to the second gorilla trekking experience. You will then be guided into the forest by the ranger guide to trek another gorilla family in Bwindi National Park, watching them keenly as they perform different tasks/activities such as feeding, walking, playing among others. The experience lasts for just 3 to 4 hours and then you will head back to the lodge.
On this day, have breakfast followed by a transfer to Kampala with a stopover at the Uganda equator where you have an option of having an experiment. Take photos, get some souvenirs and maybe enjoy lunch. Proceed with the road to Kampala where you will be dropped.
