Volcanoes national park is Rwanda’s sole gorilla trekking destination and a home to an array of luxury accommodation facilities.

Gorilla trekking involves walking in the lush forest to visit gorillas in their natural habitat by human beings, getting to experience and have a deep dive into their ways of life – how they live, sleep, get what to eat, interact with each other and also groom their young ones.

Volcanoes National Park in the north western part of Rwanda is the most visited national park in Rwanda and is famous for its extraordinary gorilla trekking adventures. Gorilla tracking in volcanoes national park starts off with a briefing of the tourists by a team from the national park with rangers and researchers who have vast knowledge about the gorillas.

It is in this briefing that visitors are told fascinating facts about the gorillas, dos and don’t while on the gorilla tracking adventure which has helped harmonize the relationships between the visitors and the gorillas in the national park.

Gorilla tracking starts early in the morning at around 8:00am and goes up to late afternoon. This is because gorillas at times migrate to different areas and tracking them can take some good hours.
