5 Days Uganda Primates Adventure

Overview

 

On this 5 days Uganda primate adventure, you will encounter the big and small primates in Uganda by visiting 2 national parks and one wetland sanctuary adjacent to Kibale national park. You will take park in gorilla trekking, chimpanzee tracking and a swamp walk experience.

 

This safari enables you to encounter the point where the equator crosses Uganda just 75km from Kampala on Masaka-Kampala road. The primates that you will meet include chimpanzees, mountaingorillas, olive baboons, vervet monkeys, white and black colobus monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, red tailed monkeys among others.

 

Detailed itinerary

 

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale National Park

 

Be picked from any agreed point in either kamala or Entebbe and board a tourist vehicle where you will first be briefed about this safari and the weather of the pearlof Africa-Uganda.The driver guide will then make a turn to Kibale national park in western Uganda where you will spend the first night of this 5 days Uganda primate adventure.

 

Kibale national park is known to host almost 13 species of primates including our own cousin the chimpanzeesas well as other primates here include vervet monkeys, olive baboons, red colobus monkeys and grey cheeked mangabeys among others. This park also hosts big mammals like elephants. You will arrive and check in your booked accommodation

 

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi swamp walk

 

Chimpanzee tracking starts at Kanyanchu tourist information centre with briefing where different things will be covered like the guidelines to follow while trekking, information about the forest among others.The ranger guide will lead the group into the forestto start the trek and you will meet different attraction like uniquetrees, olive baboons, and vervet monkeys among others and then meet the chimpanzees in a group called troop.

 

Spend a maximum of an hour and then find your way back to the lodge after a memorable experience. Later in the afternoon, join the guide and head to Bigodi swamp wetland where you will take a 2 to 3 hours walk that will grant you a chance to spot different primates like olive baboons, grey cheeked margabys, colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys among others and bird species like the great blue turacos, papyrus gonolek among others.

 

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

 

Wake up a bit early on this day and transfer Bwindi national park that is well known for the gorillas. It is located in south western Uganda in Kanungu district, it was gazetted as a forest reserve in 1942 and in 1992, it was upgraded into a national park and it’s found in the Virunga massif which means that it is covered by hills and mountains.

 

Trekking therefore in this park means you need to be physically fit. The journey to this park rewards you with great adventure as you pass through the Queen Elizabeth national park that will create a memorable experience. Arrive and transfer to the lodge where you will spend two nights.

 

Day 4: Gorilla trekking adventure

 

Gorilla trekking will begin after briefing and breakfast where the dos and don’ts will be well explained like do not feed animals in the forest; keep the environment the way you left it, don’t make noise, always keep a distance from the gorillas among others. While on the trekking experience, you will find other attractions like Vervet monkeys, colobus monkeysand different primate species among others.

 

You need to know thattrekking normally takes about 3-4 hours depending where the beautiful cousins are located but as usual, an hour is granted to any visitor on gorilla trekking while on their presence.Return to the lodge forleisure and lunch.

 

Day 5: Transfer back to Kampala

 

Transfer to Kampala early in the morning passing through the terraced landscapes of Kigezi and have a stopover at the Uganda equator in Kayabwe just a few kilometres to Kampala. At this point, you willhave lunch and photography.Thereafter, continue and find your way to Kampala where you will be droppedat Entebbe airport. End of 5 days Uganda primateadventure.
