Overview
On this safari, you will visit two main destinations which are the Volcanoes national park of Rwanda and Masai Mara National Reserve of Kenya. They will reward you with big primates and wildlife that live in the savannahs like the big five animals, the big cats, wildebeest migrations, the Masai culture among others. You will visit the twin Lake of Rwanda (Burera and Ruhondo) with their beautiful surroundings, and again the city tour experience created the best history and cultural adventure. Therefore, the safari will be of great memory as you take game drives, road trips, boat cruises, community tours, and the mighty gorilla trekking adventure.
Detailed itinerary
You will arrive and then the driver guide will be at the airport waiting and eager to receive you at the airport. You will then transfer to a hotel where you will spend your first night on the safari after a short brief about the tour.
Take a city tour after breakfast where you will visit different attractions like the locale markets, city museum, the genocide memorial grounds of Rwanda, art shops and galleries, the former presidential Palace among others. While on this tour, you will discover a lot of history while enjoying the landscape of Rwanda. Take a community tour in the Ibyiwachu cultural village where you will discover the unique way of traditional music and dances after a transfer to Volcanoes national park.
Have briefing at the park offices where you will be informed about the trekking experience like guidelines to follow. Among these include don't feed wild animals, don't litter the forest, do not don't eat in front of gorillas, listening to the park ranger guide while in the forest, never using a flashlight camera others.
Join other members/trekkers in the forest to start the trek that can last between 2 to 4 hours depending on where they are located. This time includes an hour 8n their presence as you enjoy their behaviors and movements. You will therefore visit the twin lakes of Ruhondo and Burera that give an impressive view while relaxing and then take a boat cruise that will last for 2 hours. Return to the lodge for dinner as you prepare for the next day's adventure.
On this day, you will pack your belongings and then take an optional activity like the nature walk, and after you will drive to Kigali city where you will board a flight to Nairobi Kenya. You will meet the tour representatives who will take you to the booked accommodation for a night.
Have breakfast at a hotel in Nairobi and then embark on a journey to Masai Mara a national park. The road trip is really interesting and rewarding whereby you get to know about the rift valley escarpment in the Kenya countryside. Also, you will witness one of the great Masai nomads attending to his cattle as you pass through the different homesteads or Masai villages. Have lunch on your arrival and then head for an evening game drive where you will have higher chances of spotting the big five animals, big cats, different antelopes among others.
Wake up and prepare for this long day of discovering the beautiful Masai plains through game drives. You will take breakfast and then the driver guide and the park guide will take you to the best sporting points in the different sections of the reserve. You will be able to spot animals like zebras, elands, giraffes, and big cats like lions, leopards, cheetahs, buffalos, elephants, and many more.
Take into consideration of the MaraRiver like in afternoon hours where you will witness the wildebeest migration while other animals drink water. The lunch break can either be at the lodge or in the wild depending on your choice.
Have breakfast and take an optional activity of visiting Masai community where you will be able to learn about culture of this tribe and the way of life. They will entertain you with their traditional dances and music. Transfer to Nairobi where you will be taken to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and fly back home.
